Trustfell Maturity Claus;
The reason why I think this 14 year old dweeb would be able to handle a murder game like this, is because of the kind of fucked up shit he's already had to deal with in his canon.
I'll list a few different examples here, the first being well.. overall, he travels with a grandpa who's always on the drunk spectrum from tipsy to over the wall drunk. Their adventures almost always escalate to the most ridiculous, dangerous situations and even when Morty isn't directly involved, Rick usually finds a way to drag him into it somehow. Like after a long, hard day of being stuck in a simulation with a simulated Morty, Rick came home in the middle of the night, drunk as he could be and put a knife right up to Morty's neck, threatening to slice it open because he wasn't sure if Morty was still a simulation or not.
The adventures themselves, when Morty comes along or otherwise, are as I said very dangerous about 85% of the time. And Morty's actually committed murder a good handful of times himself, starting with shooting a bunch of officers with a laser gun right in the first episode. Then later on, he and Rick killed a giant through an accident, and even went to court for it. In the second episode of season two, he's killed an assassin by running him over with his car (again, an accident), broke an omnipotent being out of a government facility and killed MANY officers and maybe even a few citizens on the escape off that planet, then ended up killing the omnipotent being in the end renduring all those deaths absolutely pointless. And finally, his biggest and worst killing(s) was in the second to last episode of season two. They got trapped in a town that had a murdering festival going on, and after bottling up a lot of anger and getting to his pressing point, he pushed an old man down a huge flight of stairs which started it all. After killing that old man, Rick gave him a robot suit and he went to town. Ripping people's heads off, filling them with bullets even if they were just hiding and continuing to shoot their corpses... he was finally stopped by Rick when he threatened to rip Rick's guts out and smear them all over his face.
And if you ignore the murders, he's seen some pretty fucked up shit and managed to still be the same, slightly more fucked up but still lovable Morty. For example, they sent their world into it's own disgusting, mutant armegeddon and the only way to survive was to move to another timeline where Rick and Morty had fixed the problem and also had died. They hopped timelines, and were immediately greeted with their own dead bodies and guts splattered all over the walls. They had to clean their own blood, bury their own corpses so they could slip in without anyone knowing what happened.
If you think that's bad, Morty also had to be introduced to over a hundred other Morty's, being chained up and tortued over the top of a giant fortress. And they were put there by another Rick, of all people, because Morty's brainwaves (especially while in distress) are strong enough to hide Rick's own impressive brain waves from being tracked down by the government as well as other Rick's. Just imagine what it felt like to see yourself screaming, bleeding, in so much pain just to be used for someone else. And not just anyone, but your grandfather and best friend.
He's also viewed images of many Ricks, murdered in different ways. Decapitated, shot, stuck in a car accident.. not to mention watching about a dozen other Mortys beat the shit out of a Rick to death. And he's also watched his own father, Jerry, get shot fatally right on T.V. While incidentally in the same building that the shooting took place.
These are just a few examples but I think they cover everything that needs to be covered! This kid he's... yeah, he's had it rough.
