CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Morty Smith (Sr.)
Age: 14
Canon: Rick and Morty
Canon Point: Post season two episode seven, Big Trouble in Little Sanchez.
Character Information: Morty on the wiki, brief synopsis of the episodes and the order of them and the episode directory! Unfortunately, they have the episodes fully written out on their own separate pages rather than on one single page -- hopefully it's not too much of an inconvenience for you!

Personality: Morty isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. In fact, if he were a tool in any shed, he'd probably be a sledgehammer from just now Not Sharp he is. He's so... dumb, for lack of a better word, that his intelligence is enough to cancel out his extremely smart grandfather's. To put it into perspective: his grandfather is so smart that his brain waves can be tracked down from anywhere within the universe, so he hangs around Morty because Morty's own brain waves cancel any that Rick has, and thus he works as a perfect cloaking device. It's... yeah, it's pretty bad.

On top of being dumb as a sack of potatoes, he isn't a very good judge of character either. He'll usually trust someone if they seem like a nice person, and thus get himself into multiple horrid situations because of it. He's been assaulted this way before, by trusting a "nice" stranger long enough to be shoved into a bathroom stall and almost taken advantage of. Another instance of this was saving an omnipotent being's life and going on a dangerous quest in order to take it to it's home. Many lives were killed on the way there, through having to escape police and causing a lot of crashes in the process. And when he finally made it to his destination -- it was revealed that the being he saved was going to come back at a later date to destroy all carbon lifeforms (presumably) in the galaxy.

But though he has a terrible judge of character and gets himself into trouble because of it, Morty's learned how to take care of these situations mostly by himself over the series. He was able to fight back against his assaulter and leave before anything serious happened to him, and before the omnipotent being could leave he made the decision to kill it, even though he had grown attached and thought of it as his friend. He's had to toughen up a little over time because he quickly learned that his grandfather wasn't going to be able to save him every time -- and even when Rick was able to, it wasn't always going to be a satisfactory ending.

Which brings me to my next point: Morty's been through a lot of shit, and he's definitely toughened up in more ways than one. I wouldn't exactly call him "strong" or "wise" yet, he's still got a lot to learn, but he's a lot more mature than when we saw him in the beginning of the series. I mean, he and Rick fucked their planet over so badly that they had to move into a different timeline, where their other selves had already died, just to be able to keep living. He had to bury his own dead body in his own back yard, and though it did leave a lot of trauma and scarring, he's shown that he was able to accept it and adapt better to future situations because of it. He explained to his (alternate timeline) sister, when she was upset about how their parents basically forced themselves to marry after their mother was accidentally pregnant with her, he explained that he and Rick were from another reality and that he ate dinner 20 yards from his own rotting corpse -- and he told her that she can trust him when he says 'don't run.' In his words, "Nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere, everybody's gonna die."

He's stupid, but he's getting there.

Though he's still very naive and very much a kid. There are some things he still doesn't understand, he gets in arguments over extremely silly stuff, he still fantasizes about his crush and he still gets scared very easily and he's almost always uncertain about his decisions -- just like your average teenager. He takes things too hard sometimes, as well. Which has sort of caused a rift between his and Rick's relationship over time. They started off on pretty good terms, but Morty's patience with his obnoxious, drunk grandfather has gotten shorter and shorter the further we get into the series. It's mostly due to finding out that the "only" reason Rick hangs around Morty so much and wants Morty to come with him on every adventure is because of him being a perfect cloaking device. He was under the impression that Rick just really, really cared about him so when he found out that he was, in a way, being used -- it seriously dug deep and I don't think it's something he's been able to fully get over. Though, he still cares a lot about being Rick's favourite grandchild in the end.

Morty's also a pretty good person, when he can help it. Though I think it has more to do with his grandfather being the absolute worst than just because he is that way -- he still tries to do the right thing. Take that omnipotent mess, for example. He found out that Rick was selling guns to an assassin, so he tracked the assassin down most likely to try to talk him out of it. Unfortunately, he happened to be driving his grandfather's spaceship himself and because he was still learning, he managed to crash it right on top of the assassin and kill him immediately. Which he felt pretty sorry about, but there wasn't anything he could do. He instead set the being free because he didn't think it deserved to be assassinated and he truly believed it was the right thing to do. When it thanked Morty for saving him, it told him "you're not like other carbon lifeforms - you put the value of all life above your own." Morty replied, "it's how things should be - it's how they could be!" which was proven later that those were his actual beliefs, not just something he was saying to seem cool or trustworthy.

He can also be pretty stubborn when he wants to be. When he really doesn't want to go along with one of Rick's plans, he'll complain or just flat out refuse to do it and 9/10 times he gets his way (unless Rick decides to be a huge ass about it.) And when Morty wants something, he won't drop it until the person agrees (again, unless it's Rick being a big ass. Rick is pretty much the only exception to Morty's stubbornness.) He pestered Rick to make a love potion, saying that he did so much for Rick all the time and that he deserved something this small in return at least - and he kept nagging Rick until he finally got up and made the potion for Morty. He and Rick even made bets at some point at who could make a more exciting adventure -- because Morty was so fed up with tagging along with Rick's terrible ideas and wanted to have some fun for once. So yeah, he can be pretty stubborn when he wants to be, though most of the time he's pretty passive and alright with helping with whatever as long as it's reasonable.

Also as a footnote, I'd like to add that he likes to drag things on when it's unneeded. IE: Telling his sister to get her shit together, and using an entire analogy involving selling her shit to a shit store or taking it to a shit museum. As long as it was together. And also reminding his father to knock before entering his room, because he owns a laptop and he doesn't want his father catching him doing anything particularly dirty. To which he... kept bringing up many times even after his dad said he got it.
